OUR MISION
We operate urban forestry programs and arid land restoration forests to create new revenue or monetize degraded ranches.
WHAT DO WE DO?
We develop sustainable commercial reforestation & restoration projects in arid / degraded lands.
OUR VALUE PROPOSITION
Let’s restore the earth
Our proprietary model restores degraded lands to create microclimates using carefully selected drought resistant trees species with potential to deliver essential oils, saps, gums, biochemicals or other byproducts. Those products allow us to manage forests in a sustainable way, generate new sources of revenue, increase profits, and collect carbon credits for the beneficial impacts to the environment.
Our history
We started developing our model in 2003 in coastal areas of Ecuador. This is a low rainfall area, without access to water and deforested since the 1960s.
We developed an applied research program to identify endemic species with greater resistance to drought and eroded lands, which in turn helped regenerate soils and exploit forest by-products. It took around three years until we found the species that worked best: Neem, Mesquite, Blue Eucalyptus, Pongamia, and Palo Santo.
In the year 2006 we started planting the first batch and one year later the reality exceeded our expectations. The trees were growing strong with a high survivance rate. And planted new for the next 5 years.
Since then, we have been recovering degraded lands and continue the research program in our experimental farm La Delfina, located in Ecuador.
In almost 20 years testing and improving our model we have planted more than 7,000 Neem, Mesquite, and Carob trees for an accumulated capture of 1,259 Tons of CO2 until 2020. We recorded a survival rate of 93% trees at the tenth year, with 34,000 m3 of wood in the pilot batch.
We have created alliances with the BellaAmada Foundation to work with local communities transferring know how and promoting entrepreneurship for forest-derived products
